NOVEMBER 2011
Creation of the TMA Student Scholarship in French and law

TMA in conjunction with the Consulate General of France in Hong Kong are happy to announce the creation of a ‘Semester in France’ scholarship. The “TMA Scholarship in French & Law”is intended to promote the learning of French as a foreign language and to introduce students to French law, whose civil law principles are radically different from Hong Kong’s common law.

Successful applicants will have the chance to live with a French family for two months and to attend a French language course for foreigners at the CAVILAM language study centre, a partner organization of the University of Vichy.

Subsequently they will join the final year undergraduate law programme at the French partner University of their Home University for one semester before starting on a three-to-six-month internship with Thomas Mayer & Associés.

SEPTEMBER 2010
Opening of an Office in Paris

The Hong Kong-based firm Thomas Mayer & Associés opened an office in Paris in September 2010. The Paris subsidiary consists of five lawyers, all of whom are registered with the Paris Bar Association. The core business of our law firm is to provide legal advice in business law. Thanks to our experience in Hong Kong, the Paris office has the ability to assist Chinese investors in France as well as to provide initial advice to French investors in Asia.

The opening of the Paris office means Thomas Mayer & Associés is close to the decision-making centres of its French and Chinese clients and can provide them with legal advice at every step of their economic development in France and in Asia.
